OUR Goals in water

The Bitterroot Water Partnership looks forward to leading conservation initiatives that focus attention and collaborative capacity on keeping water in the Bitterroot, for the Bitterroot. For thirty years, our primary focus has been promotion of water quality, or, restoration of streamside habitat, shading and cooling waters, reduction of streamside erosion and sediment pollution, and more. Now, the Partnership must work to enhance our collective abilities to improve water quantity and storage in the Bitterroot as the challenge is increasingly apparent as one of the greatest our communities face.

Water storage and capacity solutions are complex in nature – in the way that they cross landscapes, jurisdictions, and a broad collection of unique needs and capacities. Successfully implementing meaningful storage and conservation efforts will take years of diligence from the Water Partnership, our many private and public partners, donors, volunteers, landowners, and you. We look forward to springing from our thirty-year foundation of water stewardship to embark on distinct efforts in conservation. And, as always, we know we can’t do this work without your support and enthusiasm for its importance!
