Clearwater Crossing

Streamside Restoration
Location

The banks of the Blackfoot River near Clearwater, MT at the Clearwater Crossing Fishing Access Site

Goals

Our goal was to restore riverside vegetation for wildlife habitat, river shading, riverside cohesion, and aesthetics.

Reasoning

The Clearwater Crossing FAS is a popular site and is used heavily by the public for river access and camping. Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks recently revamped the FAS with a dedicated boat launch and campsite locations away from the river and was concerned by the lack of riverside vegetation.

Project Description

Approximately 0.5 acres of riparian area at the site will be revegetated with native tree species and will be surrounded by fencing to reduce wildlife browse. Areas that are disturbed during implementation will be re-seeded with native species. Implementation is scheduled for early Summer, 2023.
